Trevor Bauer has a new home.  The reigning National League Cy Young winner has agreed to a deal with the reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers. Bauer announced his decision via YouTube.  According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, Bauer’s deal with the Dodgers is for three years and $102 million.

USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reports that the right-hander left more money on the table from the New York Mets to return home to California.

Bauer grew up in North Hollywood, Calif. and played his college baseball at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In 21 starts with the Cincinnati Reds, Bauer went 7-9 with a 3.76 ERA, 1.036 WHIP and 168 strikeouts in 129.1 innings. He’ll now join a rotation that includes Walker Buehler, Clayton Kershaw, Julio Urias and David Price.  With Bauer on board, the Dodgers’ odds to win back-to-back titles will likely increase. According to BetOnline.ag, the Dodgers currently have +375 odds to win the World Series in 2021. Since Bauer rejected Cincinnati’s $18.9 million qualifying offer, the Reds will receive a compensatory pick in next year’s draft. If his contract is worth $50 million or more, the pick will fall between Round 1 and Competitive Balance Round A.
